Budget Friendly Gifts for Your Husband’s Birthday
Most of these gift ideas are under $30, or were in that price range at the time I was searching for gifts for my husband’s birthday.
If you notice a gift that suddenly has a price spike, please let me know so I can find an alternative!
No one can ever have too many coffee mugs. I get one every holiday season. There are so many different styles to choose from, but this one is pretty cool for a guy.
Maybe let your husband’s friends take him for a road trip, or plan a trip for the two of you. It doesn’t have to be anywhere crazy far away, or even overnight. This 100 Drives, 5000 Ideas book from National Geographic has some good ideas to get you started.
Or come up with your own ideas using this Road Trip Planner and Travel Journal. You can make this gift a little bit “bigger” by packaging it with his favorite snacks, a gift card for gas, and one of those little dancing dash ornaments for fun.
Bluetooth speakers are a must have! An added bonus is if you get him one that has a long battery life and is waterproof.
Smart Water Bottle
Practical gifts are also great gift ideas. If your husband drinks a lot of water, or even if you want to encourage him to drink more water, gifting him an awesome new smart water bottle is a great idea!
Happy Hour Glass
Make happy hour a little more happy with an awesome set of happy hour glasses. If your budget allows, wrap this set up with a bottle of his favorite beverage.
Girls aren’t the only ones who enjoy a great gift basket. You can purchase one that is pre-made like this beef jerky gift basket, or you can make one yourself. Put his favorite treats together – some instant noodles, hot sauce, beer, skincare products, or whatever he likes. Or you can even select a few of the cheap gift ideas from this page and make one yourself.
Is your husband the home chef? I do a lot of the cooking at my house, but my husband can whip up amazing dishes with ease. Gadgets like this vegetable chopper (the price varies, but often goes on sale for a great price) can save him time in the kitchen.
Golf Ball Set
If your husband is a golfer and you are looking for the perfect present, a new pack of golf balls can say happy birthday in the best way. You know they will be put to good use.
If your husband is like mine, his wallet looks like it is 40 years old. It may be risky to buy him a new one. Whether he uses it or not, he will appreciate it. This leather wallet has RFID Blocking Technology to protect his chip cards from electronic theft. (RFID wallets are the only kind of wallets my cybersecurity husband will use!)
Make it an even better gift and have a gift card already inside so he has to use the wallet.
Yard Work Supplies
Men are usually pretty handy around the house. I am constantly adding new tools to our collection. Until you have the entire inventory of Lowes and Home Depot, you never have enough. These lawn aerator spikes attach to your shoes so you can easily aerate your lawn as you walk around. If he cares about how the yard looks as much as my husband and my dad do, he will enjoy this fun tool.
Regular earbuds are things of the past. No, I am not suggesting getting him AirPods – honestly, almost any wireless headphones are good quality. These have great ratings and good quality and are a great budget-friendly option!
There are different color options available too.
I just love looking through the Amazon Handmade section for unique and unusual gifts from handmade sellers and small businesses. This leather photo album can be used to keep all your love notes, lyrics to his favorite song, pictures of the two of you together, or photos of family members and his best friends.
Personalize the leather cover with an embossed name, message, or his initials to make this gift extra special.
Who needs a romantic birthday gift, when you can give small gifts to make the night a big night. Pair a fun bottle opener with a bottle of his favorite drink – the perfect way to turn cheap gifts into a great birthday gift! (My husband loves the one pictured above, but this Star Wars bottle opener is pretty awesome too!)
This is on the higher end of affordable birthday gifts, but is an option to consider if he likes video games. The regular Nintendo Switch is a little pricey, however, good news is they have a Nintendo Switch Lite that is a fraction of the cost.
If your husband doesn’t need a multi-player device, the smaller option would do just fine. (You can also frequently find used video games at GameStop at a much cheaper price than brand new games.)
Kabob Grilling Baskets
These kabob grilling baskets from Uncommon Goods are an awesome deal! No more wooden sticks to worry about (sticks sliding out of my food are like fingernails on a chalkboard for me – yikes!). Just put everything in the basket and it’s ready for the grill.
Why is it that guys always seem to need new clothes? Whether it’s a new jacket, shoes, a hoodie, or even basic t-shirts, clothes are always a good gift even on a tight budget. Pajama pants are a good idea if you aren’t sure what else to get him. A cozy pair of pants like these are a great gift that you both can enjoy. *wink wink*
When it comes to small gift ideas, I am totally in love with this one! Is there any actual need for it? Absolutely not. Is it one of the best gifts on our list? I think so – just because it’s super cool! A compact size personal fireplace?!! Yes, please!
Any sports fanatics out there? Oh, I know there are! Guys, when it comes to a specific sport, if they are a die-hard fan, it doesn’t matter if they have 50 of the same thing, little gifts that have anything to do with their favorite team will definitely get you the bonus points from him.
If he’s not a basketball fan, these funny sports socks come with almost every sports theme you can think of!
After a night of sweet dreams, maybe cook him some waffles or pancakes and allow him to enjoy this yummy sweet Bourbon syrup. What better way to start the day?
For that favorite bottle that needed to be opened with that bottle opener, put that yummy liquid in this beautiful decanter. Although a little out of the $30 and under budget, it comes with two glasses and is a customizable monogram design. Let’s make this personal!
Something that can be used as cheap birthday gifts are compact tools. In this case, everything essential you need while camping, but compact size.
Coolers are always good gifts. Anyone can use a cooler. Maybe they like fishing, or having cold drinks outside during the day.
Now, go one step above the cooler and get him a cooler chair! Sit and drink with no need to get up.
It’s always nice to get a new travel bag. Duffle bags are also easy for last minute gifts. Grab it and pack it full of his favorite snacks and drinks.
I just love a good pen, and so does my husband. I didn’t realize how expensive good pens were until I became an adult. I bet if you got him simply, one single, awesome pen, he would be thrilled.
Take care of those manly bear claws by giving him a simple inexpensive gift of some comfy house slippers. Y’all can even get his and her matching sets.
Remember we talked about him lounging around the house in his jacket? How about giving him a warm cozy bathrobe.
Cufflinks are a simple and small gift that shows class and style. And if he’s a huge Star Wars fan like my husband, he will look for every opportunity to wear these. Have his cufflinks match a piece of jewelry that you would wear out.
Sometimes the party ventures away from the hard booze. A personalized beer caddy is the perfect gift to give. No more frequent trips back to the cooler or fridge. Keep a 6 pack at a time by his side.
Whether your hubby smokes cigars, needs to light a grill, or maybe he likes to play with fire, a nice fancy lighter is a nice inexpensive gift that will be useful to him. You can personalize this USB windproof lighter with his name and a special date! Plus it comes in a gift box, making it ready for gifting.
A good kit for shaving and grooming is a very well appreciated gift. Some guys don’t know what they have been missing until they actually use one of these. My husband’s face and beard stay so smooth and smelling good.
Help protect his eyes, and reduce squint wrinkles with a not so costly pair of sunglasses. These polarized sport sunglasses will look great on him!
If you want to spend a little more, my husband loves these sunglasses – they float so he doesn’t lose them in the pool or in the ocean!
Dry Food Dispenser
Do you cook breakfast every morning for your husband? Yeah, me neither. Is he super quiet when getting his cereal or oatmeal? Nope, neither is mine. A dry food dispenser is a gift for him that you can appreciate. It can live on the counter and all he has to do is place his bowl under it, durn the knob and voila, a bowl full of breakfast.
These scalp massagers actually feel super awesome. They are very cheap, but they are magical. My husband stopped playing with my hair as much as he used to, so I purchased one of these for myself. I love it! He will love it too, especially if you use it to help him relax after a long day.
Business Card Holder
If your husband has his own business or provides services on the side, a nice card holder would be a great cheap birthday gift. Seeing his name and skills on display will give him the boost of confidence that he may need.
Multi Angle Measuring Tool
When doing any type of building, some angles are really hard to measure out and make an exact replica with ordinary tools. This nifty tool does just that, it makes an exact replica of the shape he will need to cut.
Insulated Cooler Lunch Bag
This lunch bag is great. It comes with lots of pockets and plenty of space for multiple meals. A very convenient gift!
Everyone needs a pocket knife. You never know when one might come in handy. Not just for self defense, but anything! If you are in a wreck and need to cut the seat belt, or break the window. This pocket knife comes in a gift box and can be engraved with your custom message.
Man, how cool is a Bluetooth beanie? They aren’t cool, they are really warm!! Seriously though, a head warmer and speaker that doesn’t hurt your ear holes. Technology never ceases to amaze me.
Bath bombs for men? Yes, these are actually a thing. No, theirs doesn’t turn the water pink and glittery, but they do come out smelling great and have super soft skin. Guys, as masculine as they may be, whether they like to admit it or not, most actually do like to enjoy a bath from time to time.
Back Scratcher? Back scratcher! Super cheap, and Ah-mazing! If you have never experienced the simple joys of a back scratcher, you truly are missing out. Unless you get frequent back rubs and scratches, this is golden!
Book of Hacks
Since guys don’t read regular directions on how to really do things, this Big Book of Hacks should be the perfect gift. It gives shortcuts to so many tasks.
Magnetic Levitation Floating World Map Globe
This floating globe is a super cool yet simple decoration, if your husband has an office desk that needs a little “something.” It is really awesome the way that the globe actually does float, due to the magnetic energy.
Acupressure Mat and Pillow Set
This awesome acupressure mat and pillow set has been designed to target the pressure points that cause stress. When used correctly, this mat will be almost as great as going to the spa.
Coupon books are super inexpensive gifts, especially if you make them yourself. These are also perfect for last minute birthday gifts. Grab some paper, markers, and glue or staples, and write down the good things you can do to get his heart rate up for his birthday celebration
