DIY Glitter Christmas Ornaments Supplies

  • clear ornaments

  • wax paper

DIY Glitter Ornaments – Super Simple Steps!

Gather all supplies and cover your work area with wax paper for easy cleanup.

Remove all tops off of the clear ornaments and put them aside.

Mix your polyacrylic well, ensuring to scrape the bottom of the can while stirring.

Using a syringe, draw up some polyacrylic. Place the syringe into the clear ornament and squirt some polyacrylic in. Swirl around until completely covered with a nice thin layer. Pour any excess out back into the polyacrylic can.

I store my glitter in pails to help make it easier for creating my crafts such as my glitter-stemmed wine glasses!

Place a funnel into the top opening and pour in a bit of your desired glitter color. Remove the funnel and cover top with the palm of your hand. Gently shake the glitter around until all polyacrylic is covered and all the clear is now your chosen glitter color.

Gently tap the ornament to remove any excess glitter and pour it back into your glitter container.

Set to dry upside down on wax paper in case there is any remaining excess polyacrylic. This will ensure it leaks out and does not set on the bottom causing a white opaque spot!

Now you can start your next glitter ornament. I prefer to do one at a time to ensure the polyacrylic is fresh when adding glitter.

Make sure to clean out your funnel in between glitter color changes.

If you happen to see a few missed spots, you will need to add a bit more polyacrylic and try again!

glitter ornaments drying

Allow drying for a minimum of 24 hours. When inserting the top, be sure to carefully squeeze together and gently insert watching not to scratch the glitter. Wash outside of ornaments with rubbing alcohol and paper towels before decorating further.
