5 Best Resistance Bands for P90X Workout
P90X is a challenging workout, and it’s one that works well when combined with the use of resistance bands. Here are my recommendations for the best resistance bands for P90X to get the best results and a great workout.
When it comes to working out, for me, convenience plays a huge role. Sure, I enjoy working out with free weights, but when I am traveling and staying in a hotel room, using my exercise bands makes the best choice. I unpack my yoga mat and begin doing my home-away-from-home workouts.
And if P90X is your workout of choice, you want to be sure you have the best tools no matter where you’re exercising. P90X is the perfect workout to add the challenge of a resistance band, especially since they actively encourage you to utilize bands and show you how to modify moves with one.
Choosing the right resistance bands for your workout is a great way to set your path for you to properly build muscle by using different muscle groups. If one of your goals is weight loss, using an exercise band set for specific exercises can provide you with the best results.
The list that I have provided below are all high quality products that can be used in many different ways and for people of any fitness level. When I say any level of fitness, I mean that. Physical Therapists encourage their patients to try physical therapy with resistance training. The therapist typically will provide an exercise program with safety instructions to prevent further injury.
There are different types of resistance bands that offer different pounds of resistance. Some are great for warm ups, while others take the place of an extra heavy piece of equipment.
Combine one of these brands of resistance bands with the right food, a meal replacement product, or a nutrition plan, and make Tony Horton proud!

What is P90X?
P90X is a 90-day home fitness program that alternates between 12 different workouts. It’s designed for body-weight strength training and resistance-based training.
Although most people tend to use dumbbells, P90X actively encourages you to try out resistance bands. I personally preferred to use resistance bands in place of the pull up exercises, because my body wasn’t ready to safely execute an advanced move like a pull up or chin up.
There are many other times when resistance bands are demonstrated as an option throughout the program. Resistance bands can be used in:
- Chest & Back
- Shoulders & Arms
- Legs & Back
- Core Synergistics
- Chest, Shoulders and Triceps
- Back and Biceps
I also used resistance bands in some of the exercises when I did P90X3. They are a good option for pull ups and shoulder presses, along with lots of other moves.

Stroops Toner
When it comes to finding a great product that is a great value, offers versatility, and serves a purpose, the Stroops Toner is for you. When using this set of workout bands, you won’t just be improving your core strength and muscle tone, but also your posture.
I love that Stroops offers two different packs. I prefer the 5 pack because it offers one band of each different resistance levels: 10 lbs- very light, 15 lbs- light, 20 lbs- medium, 25 lbs- heavy and 30 lbs-very heavy. The 3 pack only offers light, medium and heavy resistance.
Stroops also offers a Spine Strap that can be anchored to your door so you can pull from any height, providing options for many different exercises. Work your upper body. Do lower body exercises. Adjust your anchor point to provide different resistance levels.
For P90X as well as many other workout programs, Stroops is my top choice for resistance bands. They are super durable, never over-stretch, are very safe, and are just amazing quality. They don’t compare to your typical resistance tubes that you can grab at any department store.
